Bharatpur, India

November 17, 2005

We got a faster connection in Agra and added 3 new photos to the Varanassi and Rishikesh along with the new Agra pics.

We arrived in Bharatpur yesterday afternoon and found a nice place to stay right away, The Spoonbill Hotel. The owner is a very welcoming grandfather who sat with us and asked us a few questions about Americans. Mostly he wanted to know the difference between boyfriend/girlfriend and husband/wife. It made for a funny conversation!

After a great breakfast of omlettes, toastbutterjam (this is what it is called everywhere) and a double pot of masala chai, we headed out for the bird sanctuary on our bikes with our packed lunches, binocs and camera.

It was beautiful morning with the birds waking up in the sun. Long paved and unpaved paths snaking through the park brought you to ponds and great little spots to stop and watch all the animals and birds. It was a welcome change from the cities and we were happy to be on bikes again.

We leave on a 9:40 am train to Delhi (3 hours) and will be there for 2 days before flying to Bangkok. We are hoping to go to the Indonesian Embassy to grab our visas for Bali while we are there.

Tomorrow will be exactly 3 months since we flew out of Denver! Midra, does it seem that long to you since you dropped us off? Or cleaned our fridge? (insert 2 wide, grateful smiles here for you!)

Much love to all you, even those who don't leave messages for us. Don't be shy and share the love.

Your new silk threads are fabulous...Nichole in her favorite red and Luke in golden w/ black highlights....and you look so comfortable and happy....we are so envious and delighted for you....we have the full moon here in Australia too, lighting up the northern night sky. Do you see the Southern Cross from there or are you still too far North?

I absolutely love visiting you guys on your website! One minute I'm at work in Denver, the next I'm in India seeing Nichole dressed up like a little Sari-doll! Thanks so much for sharing you guys! Safe travels!
